The Full Specialist Program at the Institute for Medical Aesthetics & Laser (IMAGE) prepares students for licensure and real-world success in both skincare and nail services. This Florida-approved program combines online theory with hands-on training in a professional spa and nail studio.
Located in North Fort Myers, IMAGE serves students from Fort Myers, Cape Coral, and across Southwest Florida. The 14-week hybrid program is designed to build advanced skills in esthetics and nail care while preparing students to earn their Florida Full Specialist License. Classes are available in both English and Spanish.

How to Become a Full Specialist in Florida: Eligibility & Requirements
In Florida, becoming a licensed Full Specialist requires completing 400 hours of approved education through a licensed school and submitting an application to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). Unlike many other states, Florida does not require candidates to pass a national written or practical exam for Full Specialist registration. This streamlined licensing process allows graduates to start their careers faster while still meeting all professional and safety standards. Below are the current Florida licensure requirements:
- Be at least 16 years of age or have a high school diploma.
- Have a valid driver’s license or other form of identity.Â
- Complete an approved HIV/AIDS Course.
- There is no Florida state board exam requirement for facial specialist, nail specialist or full specialist licensure.
