Electrologist Florida Eligibility Requirements

To become a licensed Electrologist in Florida, you’ll need to complete a state-approved program, pass the Florida IBEC Electrology, Laser and IPL Exam, submit your application, and meet a few basic eligibility requirements. At the Institute for Medical Aesthetics and Laser (IMAGE), our Electrolysis Program fully prepares you to meet all licensing requirements quickly and confidently. Here’s what you’ll need to qualify for your Electrologist License:

Be at least 18 years of age.
Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Have a valid driver’s license or other form of identity.
Complete 320 hours of training in a Florida approved Electrolysis Program.
Pass the Florida IBEC Electrology, Laser, and IPL Exam.
Submit a completed application and pay applicable fees via the Florida Dept of Health Electrolysis Council website.
Undergo a Level 2 background screening (including fingerprinting).
IMAGE students who do not pass the IBEC exam on their first attempt may return for up to 10 hours of remedial tutoring or refresher courses at no additional cost.

My instructor, Jenny, was incredible. She is extremely knowledgeable, organized, helpful, and genuinely invested in her students’ success. She was on top of everything from start to finish and made sure we felt prepared and confident going into our IBEC exams. If she didn’t immediately have an answer to a question, she would find it for us. She even took the exam herself beforehand so she could better prepare us for what to expect, even though she absolutely didn’t have to do that. That kind of dedication really stood out to me.

Jenny also made sure we understood the steps we needed to take after passing our exam, including scheduling, paperwork, and submitting the necessary documentation to the state. She didn’t leave us wondering what to do next.

What impressed me even more was the support I received AFTER graduation. About a month later, I encountered a potential job opportunity that raised some questions about Florida’s laser laws and regulations. I reached out to Jenny, and she took the time to send me helpful information and guide me through the situation. She also connected me with Emily, the owner of IMAGE, who personally reached out and shared her knowledge of Florida laws, regulations, and important considerations to help me understand my options. Both of them took time out of their busy schedules to help a former student, and I genuinely appreciated that. They always told us we could reach out to the school if we needed help, and they absolutely meant it!

Emily also taught us during parts of our course, and she was a wealth of knowledge. It was clear how much experience and expertise she brings to the industry.

The school itself was exceptionally clean, well-maintained, organized, and professional. Mya, who helped explain the courses and costs, was so sweet and helpful, and the front desk staff were wonderful as well. Everyone I interacted with made a positive impression.

I also loved that the school held a nice graduation ceremony for us. It made the accomplishment feel special and showed that they truly valued their students and the work we put into completing our training.

Having attended an esthetics school elsewhere in Florida, I can honestly say the experiences were like night and day. IMAGE Institute set a much higher standard in my experience, both in the quality of instruction and in the level of professionalism and support.

Mya and Angelica who are front desk are incredibly helpful in answering any questions with billing and education. Mya in particular is so lovely and personable. Nikki was a wonderful educator for skin, and you are provided with supplies for almost every service you might need to do as an esthetician. Liz did my advanced class, learning for lash lift and lamination and you can tell she is passionate and very informative. This program is fast and treats you like an adult, if you can keep up on hours and like hands-on education, this is a wonderful place to go to get an education on skin, nails or massage.
